LONDON – In England, a second limited edition Hermes Birkin bag sold for the record sum of 58,200 euros. Women around the world would do everything to such a bag.
The auction took place Tuesday night at Christie’s auction. A total of 51 Hermès handbags auctioned.
The anonymous bidder thought the crocodile Birkin in 1998 so special that they have a record amount of 58,200 euros converted to put down. The cheapest bag went for more than 5000 euros under the hammer.

According to Pat Frost, manager at Christie’s women do anything for a Hermes Birkin handbag. Birkin and the Kelly’s were the most sought after bags. “Women find the perfect Hermes bag and once it has been found, they are ready,” said Frost in the British Daily Mail.

The Hermès bags were so expensive because they are exotic leather like crocodile, alligator, lizard and ostrich are made.
